Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

GrowQuest is a local-first learning planner for families and individual learners. This policy explains how the app handles data. The developer does not operate an account system or advertising, analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting service.

1. Data the App Handles

  • On-device data: Student profiles, plans, completion and focus records, points, rewards, challenges, books and their cover thumbnails, Study Buddy data, settings, and optional audio recordings are stored on your device.
  • No developer collection: The app does not send this content, device identifiers, or diagnostics to a server controlled by the developer. It contains no advertising, third-party analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDK.
  • Admin password: The password is converted on-device into a PBKDF2-SHA256 hash with a unique salt. The original password is not stored and is not uploaded.

2. Optional Apple Services

  • iCloud Sync: Premium users may choose to sync app data, recordings, and book cover thumbnails through the private CloudKit database of the Apple Account signed in on the device. Apple processes that data under its terms and security controls. The developer cannot browse or retrieve a user’s private CloudKit records.
  • StoreKit: Apple processes subscription purchases and restoration. The app receives product and entitlement status but does not receive your full payment-card details.
  • Microphone: Microphone access is requested only for the optional recording feature. Recordings stay on-device unless the user enables their private iCloud sync.
  • Camera and Photos: Camera or photo access is requested only when you choose to photograph or select a book cover or homework list, and the app reads only the photos you choose. It works on temporary copies, which are deleted after recognition or after the cover thumbnail is made, or when you cancel; your photo library is not changed. Recognition photos are not saved to the app database or synced. If you save a book with a cover, the app keeps a small re-encoded thumbnail without location or other photo metadata, which you can remove at any time.
  • On-device AI (Apple Intelligence): On supported devices, text recognition and Apple’s on-device model run on your device to prepare editable plan or book drafts. Nothing is saved until a parent confirms the draft.
  • Private Cloud Compute (optional): Only when a parent chooses smart enhancement are the plan text pasted for that request or the selected book photos sent to Apple Private Cloud Compute to create the draft. Apple processes the request under its terms and states that Private Cloud Compute does not store this data. The developer cannot access this content. The app does not use third-party AI services, and the developer does not use your content to train AI models.

3. Feedback and Support

  • The app opens your email client only when you choose to contact support. The developer receives the address and content you decide to send and uses it only to answer and resolve the request. Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably needed and can be deleted on request.

4. Retention, Deletion, and Choices

  • On-device data remains until you delete the relevant profile, plan, recording, or other item, or remove the app. Temporary photo copies are deleted automatically after each recognition or cover, and a book cover thumbnail remains until you remove the cover or delete the book. Synced data may remain in your private iCloud database according to your Apple Account and iCloud settings.
  • You can disable optional iCloud Sync, revoke microphone, camera, or photo access in iOS Settings, delete content in the app, or remove the app. For help or to request deletion of support correspondence, email support@growquest.xyz. Because the developer cannot access private CloudKit records, those records must be managed through the app, your devices, or Apple iCloud controls.

5. Children and Sharing

  • GrowQuest has no public profiles, social posting, advertising, or free-text AI chat. AI drafting tools appear only on the parent-managed screens for creating plans and books, and their results stay drafts until a parent confirms them. Learning and Study Buddy data is not sold or shared with data brokers or advertising networks.

6. Security

  • Keep your device, Apple Account, and admin password secure. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. Terms and Changes

  • Study planning and statistics are informational and do not constitute educational advice. We may update this policy when app functionality or legal requirements change. The current version is published in the app and at https://growquest.xyz/privacy.
